Yes! Terrific brief summation of our dilemma.

Christians inevitably are engaged in politics. Even Thoreau at Walden knew he was part of the community and thereby subject to it and active in it. Jesus' kingdom is truly not of this world, and thus all the more in need of witnesses to it in this world. So-called "Christian Nationalism" asserts that their particular extreme version of both christianity and politics be the established character for all, rather than Jesus testified to in scripture.

So…Christian Nationalism is a good thing? Christians must engage in politics? My kingdom is not of this world is no longer binding? My main concern is that when you mix faith and politics, usually the most extreme version of faith dominates. And wily politicals can manipulate Christians and faith leaders. Accurately or not, I think A Handmaid’s Tale is instructive. When faith determines civic policy, the question becomes whose faith?
