Jason, thank you for your words and your sermons. We have never met, or spoken personally to one another, but you have helped strengthen my faith, and you have certainly enriched my theology. You are important to me. I completed 48 years of pastoral ministry and witnessed many times when the power and love of God did for people what was considered impossible. I know God works miracles and that prayer is effective. I will continue to pray for you, your family and friends. I will pray for your complete healing, and for you to receive abundant love and support through all the things you will endure. I will pray that you continue to be a vessel through which the good news of God's love is lived and proclaimed. Thank you for being a vessel of God's blessing to me.

Dear God of grace, work your healing for Jason. He needs your power to cure him of this dead cancer. I join many others in asking this in Jesus' name. Amen

Dear Jason, thank you for humbling me with your powerful reminder, challenge, and invitation to trust God with prayer. I will. God bless you and your family with all you need.

God knows what will happen before we pray, and what he wills will happen. BUT he wills that many things should happen BECAUSE of our prayers. It is one way in which he uses us as his instruments in this world. That's the way I would put it.

Jason, I am so sorry for this return of your cancer. I do pray that the Lord will grant you complete healing and that he will encourage you and those close to you as you endure this trial.

I needed this reminder. Lord, heal Jason. Not least for my own selfish desire to keep hearing the gospel from him, but because You are the God who heals. Amen.

Jason - I’m sorry to hear how miserably your body has been feeling.

I believe in your healing. It sounds like you know that it will need to be something beyond the medical treatment you’re receiving. It won’t come from something external like that. But neither is God-as-healer a wholly external force that must be beseeched in order to be applied. I know you’re the one with theological training but don’t forget that God’s location is fully within you. You can’t escape God. (Psalm 139). He’s all over you and his love is what activates every breath.

God, activate your healing love toward Jason through all the people that surround him - family, friends, parishioners, medical attendants.

Redirect Jason’s mind over and over again to physical wholeness. You speak things into existence every moment of every day. These things only seem like miracles to us because of our mindset. To you it is simply the way things work. You create. You also made us in your image as co-creators. We think by default that what ours eyes can see is some kind of permanent ceiling. Help us realize the futility of that assumption and get outside of it.

God, please enable Jason to tangibly feel your love in this terrifying moment - not as a replacement for healing, but as the path to healing. TIA, God.

Praying much grace for your family, too. May they be overwhelmed by the sense of God's loving presence.

Thank you for these words. I will be praying daily for your healing. I'm so thankful for your ministry. Your words and podcasts have been a source of healiing for my life after a brutal ending to my pastoral ministry. Your words today have given me new impetus to boldly go to the triune God with petitions for healing. Much love to you and your family.

Your ministry has and continues to form people you have never meet. I am one of those many. From the Book of Common Prayer:

O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in

time of need: We humbly beseech thee to behold, visit, and

relieve thy sick servant Jason, for whom our prayers are desired.

Look upon him with the eyes of thy mercy; comfort him with

a sense of thy goodness; preserve him from the temptations

of the enemy; and give him patience under his affliction. In

thy good time, restore him to health, and enable him to lead

the residue of his life in thy fear, and to thy glory; and grant

that finally he may dwell with thee in life everlasting; through

Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Jason, praying for your healing and your family as well. Please keep spreading this word. As my sister-in-law and I were discussing over the holiday, when we grew up in the '80s and '90s there were per meetings where people were prayed for for healing by name, but those prayers in the church even seem to be much more rare now. I know prayer works because my husband miraculously fully recovered from a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism that blindsided us--after coding four times (heart stopped three times, breathing once). I can tell you, though, that the Baptist chaplain at the hospital was warning me that I needed to prepare myself for his death, so I am all too aware of how many even religious leaders see prayer. I'm not downing him because I'm sure he has seen a lot of people die in spite of a lot of prayer. He also came by to see my husband during the recovery and said it was a miracle.

My friend shared this post with me. Thank you for your boldness in writing it.

Lord, I ask that You will heal Jason from this recurrence of cancer. You healed Hezekiah because he asked You to to heal him. I'm asking that you heal Jason because he is asking You. So many are asking You; please do it. We are asking in the name of Jesus Christ.
