Even your comments about this are a hoot. This was so good I watched twice, but listened first when it popped up on my podcast app. So good. Todd's post today agrees with that. Every church has, and maybe needs a Shirley. Or so I'm thinking.
But there something you said at the beginning about how hard it was when you were taking leave from your own church and trying to find one that actually preaches the gospel. But damn, didn't that hit me hard and there I was talking back to you about that. The church I attended for almost 30 years just installed a new Rector, I have yet to hear him come anywhere close to actually cueing in on any of the lectionary or anything related to the bible. I'm thinking he surely failed homiletics because he can't even connect the damn dots. I am keenly aware of community and it's importance, I am also keenly aware that if I am sitting in church listening to story hour and feeling well, my ears turn red and the top of my head gets hot that it's time for me to put myself in time out. So I'm just going to say thank you for this, not just for Shirley but for your own experience you shared. Thank you.
