You’d better believe I’ve been inspired to pray for more things in the past 24 hours. I think all of this falls under the umbrella of “we know the good we ought to do” but need to rehearse, remind, review, encourage, inspire. Without the cheering on from the great cloud of witnesses, our energy and motivation atrophies. I also believe one of the things God does through prayer is prove himself to us by creating cognitive connections in our perceptions. HE prompts us to pray for a thing he intends to do anyway but waits for our engagement to time things in such a way that we are awed, our faith boosted and our connection to him felt - the whole seeming purpose of why he created us: to be in close connection with us.
